AI R&D Ltd. does data science, artificial intelligence and software development, continuing the 35 years of research work by the founder.
The main drive behind our research, pretentious though it sounds, is a deep desire to make tools useful to society: we strongly believe that machine intelligence can help humans be happier and healthier, and contribute to a sustainable global civilization. But our motivation is also intense curiousity about what is possible and the joy from solving difficult problems.
Some of our output is pure research, released as open source/open data, but the way the bills are paid is applied research and development: over the years we have worked in this way with many startups as well as universities and some of the very largest companies in the world.

Improving human communication, machine translation in particular, also writing aids, fact checking, anomaly discovery, and accurate search. We have experience in many of the world's major languages; especially Asian languages.
Adding context to raw data is a key focus, whether to help trading algorithms beat the market (which we have much experience with) or to help large language models better deal with ambiguity. Preferring precision over recall is also key, to prevent the AI hallucinating and bluffing.
We have also worked with companies leading the way in integrating AI with human workflows: using AI as a tool to make human workers not just more accurate and more efficient but hopefully happier too, by having the AI do the drudge work. In finance that could be finding company-specific terms, in legal work it could be contract review, in commercial work it might be trawling and summarizing company disclosure documents.
